I was looking into designing a rack and pinion. Probably using stilletos rack and pinion and build a body around it. I have used there rack on all 3 of my baja cars in the past. I know they use bronze bearings in the rack body. I was thinking of using a linear bearing for precision shafting instead of those. Frelon bearings to be exact. Does anyone see anything wrong with using or doing this from a mechanical standpoint?

Weight, Cost Report.

carefully reemed bushes should be fine as long as your rack body arm's are sufficiently long enough (just make sure it's not longer than your reemer), if your worried about 'play' i'd start by finding a good quality steering wheel quick release.
