Has anyone used a single keel lower wishbone system on the front before? we are thinking about it but wanted to find out if it had been done.

Thanks

Yes it has been done.

the problem with that is that the inboard points for the top arms need to be pretty far inboard, and the legs of the driver need to go over the lower arms. This may raise the CG of your driver. The advantage that you would get from it is probably not worth the disadvantages you get in packaging issues. The two inboard points on most cars are still close enough that there is not a significant amount of flex there to warrant worrying about it. Worry about flex elsewhere.

A typical answer people say when they infact have never attempted it.

Just out of curiosity, what flex are you worrying about? I think a single keel setup would mean really long lower a-arms and a funny cantlilever hanging from the bottom of your car. F1 cars aren't uniform in their lower wishbone arrangement. Williams has run very short lower a-arms and other teams have run single keels with most running double keels.

hmm that might be a bit big.

anyways, we ran this last year, and it hasn't changed much for this year as shown in the CAD image. We don't really think of it as a feature, just something we could do since the legs had to be raised anyways. Very little roll center migration.
