Seeing this posting I wanted to draw to everyone's attention who might be purchasing driver's equipment that there was an announcement made on the FSAE home page about allowable equipment for the upcoming season.
Here it is for ease:
WARRENDALE, Pa., Dec. 13 00:00:00.0, 2010
After considering feedback from teams and reviewing the helmet certification test requirements, the Formula SAE Rules Committee has voted to include helmets rated Snell M and K within the scope of Rule B17.2 “Helmet”. This is an official announcement under FSAE Rule A2.4 and is in effect for the 2011 Formula SAE competitions. Although the formal text of Rule B17.2 will not be rewritten at this time, for 2011 technical inspection and operating purposes the acceptable helmets will include those meeting one of the following certifications and labeled as such:
Snell SA2000, SA2005, SA2010, M2000, M2005, M2010, K2000, K2005, K2010
Please keep in mind that under Rule B17.3 a balaclava is required with all helmets. We urge you to thoroughly review Part B Article 17 “Equipment Requirements” to be certain your driver’s gear satisfies the rules, including this announcement.
Teams competing in competitions outside the United States must comply with the applicable supplementary regulations. Helmet requirements and operating procedures may vary at different competitions. Your team is responsible for complying with the driver’s equipment requirements in effect at the competition you have entered.
