Does anyone know what pad compound wilwoods PS-1 calipers use or from which ones I can choose from? i.e A, B etc.. I can't seem to find them in wilwoods catalogues...

According to the website, wilwood doesn't make a polymatrix compound(A,B,etc.) for its PS-1 calipers. The only pad I could find made for the PS-1 caliper is a sintered metallic compound, with no additional information given on operating temperatures or torque curves. I would give wilwood a call and see if they can provide you with that info.

used those on my baja car for a couple years. Love them. Forget about calling wilwood. They have the worst customer service and they will tell you that they dont have data on those pads because it isnt a polymatrix pad and because you didnt spend 10 grand on other stuff. If you were smart you would by a larger set of pads(read: already bonded) and machine them down to a ps1 pad. You are going to have to shave down the backing plate and the friction material but it beats using those pads if you dont like the compound they use.

Cheers Rob. I'll look into it.

It sounds like a bit of pain in the ass tho... I might purchase the PS-1 Pads anyway and test them... if they don't perform then I can use it as a stencil to cut one out of a larger polymatix pad.

Rob

We are having trouble with machining the compund B pads as they are so hard! Have you done this before? Can u give me any solutions?

Cheers

we had much problems with B's cutting disks to bits (not getting them hot enough, and soft disks)

i'll be very interested to see how you guys fair with B's

What did you make your rotors out of? ours are stainless with a Rockwell hardness of 36.. I'm hoping this will be hard enough.. I've got a feeling they are only going to get harder with use to temp flucuations...

I would love to test out the H compound but the ps-1 limits you to the bp-10 or modifying what other pads they have, which I guess is what you guys have obviously left to do...I guess I'm in the same boat

Here's the mu vs. temp charts for all of Wilwood's pad compounds, including the "smart pad" compound used with the PS-1.

PS thanks for the solidworks model, it looks great!

Does anybody know any UK suppliers of the PS-1 pads?
