just wondering what kind of speeds you see your power drop off due to the restriction?

Our engine seems to choke at 10,000rpm but then hold peak power to the 14k redline.

Haven't seen many other power plots, anyone got some plots they would like to share ? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Same thing - it chokes right around 10,000 rpm. We're using a turbo though, and power drops off after that point due to heating of the inlet air (gets real hot real quick after 10K!)

Are you measuring airflow? Otherwise how do you know it is choking.

Our power starts to slow its rise after 10k as well, but the airflow increases to redline, we don't choke.

boost drops off fast, as does torque, and intake air temp goes from being flat all the way from idle to 10k, to climbing like a jet after takeoff once you hit 10k. We're pretty sure it's choking http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We have still got a few bits to do before our turbo goes on, im still not convinced it's gonna do much though looking at our curve.

Here's an early run with a non optimised inlet and a very bad exhaust system, the exhaust housing of the turbo is part of the system

Charlie, how are you measuring your airflow, if I may ask? Are you using an LFE upstream or something like that?
