Hey, I was wondering why as far as I know no one is running the Megasquirt ECU, seems sufficient and dirt cheap, like $140 for a kit, up to 400 for a fully tested assembly with wire loom.....

Yeah you can do it.

You'll need MS with MJLjr MS-2 or MSnEDIS. From what I gather you'd have to make up a nice small ford style 36-1 trigger wheel for the end of the crank. Or, I guess the code is still being worked out for other trigger wheels. But hell, I'm sure someone on campus could figure it out in no time, but its not exactly my cup'o'tea.

It would be sweet for cost. But it could be a nightmare if you cant get it to work.

I'm thinking about it as a summer project for my bike...

I ran one (fullsize) on the Carnegie Mellon 2003 car. Worked like a champ. Full data logging capabilities. And the support over at www.msefi.com (http://www.msefi.com) is outstanding. Its like a 24x7 tech helpline with 10-20 experts CONSTANTLY available and willing to bend over backwards to help you.

You don't have to run fuel and spark. You can just leave it with fuel only, and usually run the stock spark system as-is.

Or you can buy the Ford EDIS parts from a junkyard for ~$100 and make that work.

I'm working on 'squirting our '05 car in the next few weeks. We already have a motec M4, but I'm happier with the capabilities and adaptability of the MS.

Motec on the Briggs http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif that thing did sound pretty mean..anyways, I am working on putting the Ford EDIS on one of my older garden tractors, I got a lazer cut steel trigger disk, smaller then the stock one and not that nutty material that cant be drilled, just mounted the disk last nite. I'm doing it just to play around with it and also with the intent of eventually fuel injecting it, i have the tb/fuel rail setup already and a guy custom building the computer for me....if you guys that know the EDIS or Megasquirt want to talk more email me at duwem@uwplatt.edu
thanks

I have Megasquirt on my Dart, but i'm not really wanting to put it on the racecar simply because i've had so many little problems with mine that I don't want to deal with on the racecar. Bottom line is, I have very little money, but the team has enough to afford the added reliability and lack-of-headache that comes with a commercially available unit like PE. That said, the MS is simply amazing in what it can do for the cost.
