the gears themselves arent carbon fiber are they?

It didn't go into detail.

I am asuming that just the gear casing is carbon fiber.

Well this blows...

BAR is not allowed to use the new gearbox.

Apparently NOW you have to have 200-300ms between each gear, and BAR's was "almost instantaneous without losing any power"

Damn, so much for innovation in F1.
