This looks like a very promising advancement on the front pivot axle or "ox driven wagon" race car design philosophy.

Wow, very interesting! Thanks for the link Pat!

Pat, on a side note, when can we expect another installment of Pat's Corner?

Soon, mate, soon. Its a work in progress! ('Pat's seven deadly sins')

The most difficult part is thinking what to write about without crossing the line that could be seen as telling students how to design a car.

I am open to suggestions.

What we all forget is the rotating membership of the competition. I keep thinking 'I cant write about that, I've already covered it before' when in reality, most, especially those in the sub continent it seems, haven't even read the early ones =(

And Nick, I was never posting a link suggesting you should adopt such a design, just trying to get some more interesting topics on the board.

What I find interesting Pat, is that you found it interesting - yet offered no comment. What's your take and have you seen anything like it in practice?

So am I misunderstanding how this works or will that setup scrub the hell out of the tires?

hello Pat!

I just want to say that whenever I check these forums (maybe about 2-3 times per day), I notice a lot of people from Australian teams as "logged in", but not many posts from them. I'm assuming they're just looking at the top threads, and not seeing much to reply to. Hence, I like the way Pat has tried to start a discussion.

One small problem: I'm more of an engine guy, so while I can understand how it (steering thingy) works, i don't have any useful comments to make.

Maybe you (Pat) could post up "interesting" things on other areas of the car?

Or another idea: post up design error photos, and we'll give you feedback, kind of like the photo of the car with the really high halfshaft angles? A forum would allow more feedback/discussion/learning than the Pat's Corner column - spot the design error.

Anyway, see you all at FSAE-A comp!
