We indeed are organising it. We will be giving away some brochures in FS and FSG competitions.
But in the nutshell:
Time: September 1-3, dynamic day 2nd
Place: Near Helsinki, most certainly Vihti 40km from Helsinki
Teams: All teams welcome, as are also old cars, Helsinki Polytechnic will run with 3 cars
Price: Free(including track fee and lodging), only a small fee for banquet
We will also be asking preliminary registrations in FS so think ahead are you coming and if you are with how big team(just so that we can arrange proper lodging).
More info in the competitions and when something final is decided, I will put something here.

In FS we handed out some brochures that looked like this:

And same in pdf:

There are now three teams(Helsinki, KTH and LuleƄ) and seven cars for certain coming and probably 3 more teams are trying to get here. But more are welcome!

Hello there!
It looks like Chalmers will show up with our 06 car (unfortunately our 05 car is still on the atlantic) and aprox. 12 guys.
We got a question about the trac. How fast will it be? Similar to England?
I took a look on the link on the invitation, and comparing that track to the one we have been practicing on, it seems to be pretty fast.
Will you modify the track alot (put out cones here and there) to make it slower, or what is the plan?
Do you have any idea of the oproximate top speed on the trac?

KTH will try to bring 2 cars, we have some problems with the gearbox on our '04 car but hopefully we'll bring 2 cars.
Delft is also aranging a trip. We are looking into how many cars we can take there, but probably at least the o6 car. The other cars seem to need too much of maintenance in such a short period of time. On the other hand it would be a great moment to get those cars running again.

So, 10 cars and over 100 team members is current situation. Looks like Baltic Open will grow quite a lot from previous years.
Track will be rather fast. At this point we have only thought what kind of it could be so I don't have any specs about it but we will slow it down with cones in places where speeds would just be too much(if there is such a thing..?). I think it's going to be something like in FSG and fastest parts of FS.
Looks like that having three events with at least 10 cars in one day is going to be quite hectic competition, so prepare your car in advance. There is a possibility to test in a nearby tarmac field at preceding days.
As soon as I will recover from FSG-trip I will put something to our web site.

Great to hear that you Delft guys are coming as well! I tried to convince the Stralsund guys at the Mahle party to come, but I think they had had a bit too much beer...
For us, higher speeds means more downforce http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Finally I got something to our web site:

There's nothing that you wouldn't know except couple of pictures but I will upload there track overlay and maps when they are done.

I drew some sort of track "map" with cones in it. Not exact but as close as I can remember.

Great organization so far, excellent facitilies and great cars!

Competition over. Every team did finish. Helsinki `05 team won the hole thing, Chalmers second and Helsinki `02 third. The Helsinki `06 car had some problems with the clucth but did the best time in sprint. Chalmers won the acceleration (time was something about 3,75, will be confirmed) and Helsinki `05 won the endurance. Some pictures will be posted as soon as possible.

Web site is now finally updated. Complete results and some photos. Endurance lap times may come some day..
The level of competition was quite good. FSG's 2nd & 3rd were now 6th & 7th and this was Helsinki's new team's worst position this year.
Thanks for every participant for making this remarkable competition!

As I was making a season summary I made a "side clip" from Baltic Open. This is onboard footage from our sprint event.
