Cooper Tires make the Zeon UHP racing slick for the Formula Ford Zetec series....I believe the front tire size fits a 13x6" wheel, but don't quote me on that one. Do a Google search and see what you can dig up.

Cooper also owns Avon, which many FSAE teams run and have had success with. Any reason why you are particular to Coopers, versus Goodyear or Hoosier?

The cooper tire we run in the Zetec series will for sure fit a 13X7, but I am not sure about a 13X6. The compound is way to hard for an FSAE car. Our cars are over 1000 lbs and they last 60-80 laps on a 2+ mile road coarse with 145 degree track temp.

Thanks Ricky....I was reaching back in the memory banks for that one. You guys have have to run the same set of tires for the entire weekend, right? Or are they allowing you another set for practice/qualify?

If the track is close to home we rent the track on Thursday for testing where we run old tires for two days and then switch to new tires for qualifying and the race. If we are runnning quick then we run very minimal amount of laps in Sunday practice and qualifying. Those tires took a beating at our 2nd to last weekend at Buttonwillow. Highest track temps the team owner has ever seen and the tires still lasted all weekend. Most of the tire desicions(running new or used) depends if our faster driver is out on track or our slower driver. Our slower driver tends to run an extra 30 laps on old tires because he doesn't gain much performance on new tires.

I was wondering if they offer anything with a compound that would be similar to what we need, we have a contact who can get us cooper tires very cheap.

Your cooper contact should also be able to get you AVON tires which have a much softer compoud. There was a recent post on it.

under tires 2006. Also check google because I found a website with tire info. The Avon website has tire data for other racing series but I am not sure if they have data on the A45(softest compound they have). Let u sknow what you find out.
