There's a really long and quality thread about a couple of teams that tried 4wd on here from about 2003. Alternatively you could just look at the fact that they tried it and gave up on it and take that as proof enough...

I think the 4WD will make the car more weight so we should use 4cylinder engine.on the other hand, the 4WD can make car run fast in bend.I know the 4WD is difficult to achieve in fsae.it is so weight and it affects a racing car very much.this is the reason why ferrari give up this technology.
