i was just wondering if anyone has taken the route of increasing compression and running ethanol. success? failure? what did you change to change compression? shaved head? bad idea to begin with? just thought i would start a discussion...

We used to shave the heads on our F3's running gas, and now we run Wiseco high-compression pistons on our F4's and F4i's (still running gas). They're good for 1 point over stock as far as I know, but I'm just a dumb suspension guy http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You guys driving this weekend? We just got our car back out of the paint booth... looks sweet!

Denny,
We painted it on Saturday and started assembly tonight. We are trying to be ready by this Saturday. I'll get a hold of you when it gets closer to the weekend.

yeah, i probably should of clarified; i realize people up the compression a little and still run gas, i was thinking more along the lines of really bump up the compression alot to take advantage of the ethanol.

Jack;

What were you planning on running? The Wiseco pistons are 12.7:1 IIRC -- it would be pretty nuts to try and increase more than that with pistons. Those have really deep cutouts for the valves as it is! You might be able to shave the head a wee bit more, but I would Measure LOTS of times before you do anything.
