hi all,
just trying to get an idea of what size oil reservoir teams with dry sumps are running?

You can look it up in a book, but for the most part the rule of thumb that I have heard is to account for at least the stock oiling system and plus one quart of oil. So if you the stock bike takes 3 quarts, use 4 overall. This includes some in the pan, some in the lines, some in the engine, and the rest in the tank.

Is that better?

I've heard 1.5 original volume.

I'd make it too big, and try monitoring it during running to see where the level gets to.

That sounds about right. Our oil reservoir holds about 4.5-5 quarts but is usually not completely full.

Uuh, a 350ci V8 takes about that much oil. Save some weight and shrink that a bit, imo.

but it dosn't lubricate the clutch and gearbox as well
