We usually go with something like this...

I would recommend splurging for an outboard motor though, soo worth it

We used to do something like that. Since then we've gotten a good sponsor and now we use this to get our car to Michigan. Might be able to pick one up used.

we were thinking of pulling some resources this year and going this route:

You could go this route

The design judges would love it because you could say that you avoided shipping costs just by designing the car this way!!

You can go to this page to apply for your visas:

Rahul,

You might have gathered by now that the FSAE.com community consider your enquiry frivolous.

I understand your ignorance about such stuff, but many teams before you have figured it all out and shipped themselves and their car to the US, Austria, Germany, Australia, Italy and the UK.

Might I suggest you first enquire at the US consulate and then research some freight forwarding companies.

If you insist on taking the lazy way out, you might try asking on the various FSAE and Supra pages in Facebook where there are nearly 3,000 members joined.

Cheers

Pat

I think this topic deserves to be a serious one, we used a local shipping company to transport the car and we ended up with a car that arrived 2 days late for the competition, some parts were missing (including our whole toolbox) and the car was picked up from the track 2 months after it was supposed to.

The only advice i can offer you is to use a well known international company that has an office in the country you are heading to as well as a local office, make sure they have insured your shipment and don't be cheap about this process!, also always have a written contract with specific dates and prices.
