dela,
Delete this thread immediately!
Next, learn how to use the "Find" function. That is, do some research before asking stupid questions!
(Geez, the "Any way to objectively choose an engine" thread is still on the first page... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif )

Dela,
Given the 600cc design requirement many teams are running smaller displacement engines but are running more of them. I've actually heard of one team that is going to run 12 50cc engines. It is a bold design move but it'll be interesting how it works out.

I was talking to another team recently that were toying with the idea of adding a hamster in a wheel in order to gain a bit more fuel economy. With the rule changes it could be a potential strategy.

That would be considered as hybrid, I suppose as the hamster would run on body fat.
I like the hamster idea. But you should follow that very consequent. Use more hamsters. If a hamster. Use the exhaust gases of the hamsters for the combustion engine.
If a hamster dies you have two possibilities. You can either burn it to gain more energy or feed it to the other hamsters. Not sure, which way will be more efficient. I will start to run some simulations later this afternoon and share the results here.
I really believe this could be the automotive revolution everybody is waiting for!

Bemo,
Don't forget to quantify variations in species of hamsters. We've talked about using New York City rats, as they are bigger and more powerful than average mice. Unfortunately, we haven't quite figured out how to cost out the trip to NYC along with rat catching materials.

I would recommend Chernobyl rats, but they probably do not fit into our typical car size.

Would the rats have to be tested for performance enhancing substances?

There are no rules against modifying the insides of your engine, dmacke...

We have a sponsorship lined up for when our rats run on ethanol.

When you have a big boy job, most people seem to run on ethanol, at least in the evenings and weekends.
I liked those affordable kitchen cabinets (http://remodelproducts.com/kitchen-cabinets/). Its dark and gives a royal look to the kitchen. The light on ceiling gives an awesome look to the kitchen.

The trouble with rats over hamsters is that they consume more oxygen per kw output. And with the limitations of the restrictor you're gonna hit a dead end pretty soon if you don't want your rats passing out half way through endurance due to CO2 build up.
