anyone converted carbureted engine to fuel injection?

i am trying to convert a honda CRF 450X single cylinder engine to fuel injection. i am going to use the haltech E6X unit to do this. has anyone done anything like this before? if so i am having trouble getting a signal from the engine to tune it. any help would be appreciated.
