has anyone ever heard of a shock boot. I am curious because I have been hearing things about it from a few friends and have no clue what exactly it is. If anyone can do you know what kind would be the best. Thanks everyone.

that is exactly what i was talking about. I was wondering if there are certain specs we need for them or do we just get them to fit our shocks and springs. Thank you very much though

Only buy shock boots with a spring rate > 1800 milli-inch/meter rating. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Is that just to keep dirt from getting in there?

Wouldn't that also prevent them from dissipating heat well?

they only serve to prevent dirt getting in. they're made from neoprene with a velcro strip to join. you can buy them from pretty much any mountainbike shop for a couple of bucks a piece. Lizard skins are the most popular brand. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

They help prevent pitting and seal wear from grit etc. on the shock. I remember Claude Rouelle talking about these quite a bit.

It's been what ... 4 or 5 years since i first saw Cornell's car and man, it still amaze me how they managed to package everything so nice and tight.
