Hello all,

We got the KTM 525 running the other night, thought I'd put a link up to it.

not quite the same sound as what most here are used to hearinghttp://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Is anyone else running this motor this year?

Wait until you put a massive plenum on it and she won't idle or sound anything like that.

Yep, we've been running it for 3 or 4 years now at Carleton. Done a few homemade tweaks to it though http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

nice, how does it perform compared to an inline 4? We're looking forward to getting this car finished so we can compare it to our 06 car, which ran an F4i.

Just beeing the devil's advocate:
No fire extinguisher, holding the fuel tank by hand on top of the engine...suicide?

Tobi

I've never really seen another car run with an inline 4, but I can tell you that it'll vibrate like mad (actually broke engine mounts back in 06).

Yeah, that's not how we're planning on running it. We're actually planning to have the fuel cell sit in the drivers lap. That way if a fire does start, it will be on his fire proof suit and he'll be able to pat it out with one hand. Kind of a no-brainer.

J Hibbert:
You're right, they really do vibrate like mad- we built some pretty robust mounts, so we're hoping to avoid that problem... we'll see!

Ask one of KTH drivers how he feels now about fire in FSAE cars. You wouldn't make jokes about it anymore.
