Does anybody know what motorcycle model comes with a coil with a built in ignitor? I was trying to get one for our engine (which was switch from carburetor to fuel injection) but don't know the bike model. I heard that CBR 600 F4i has them but I haven't found a model that does.
Thank you in Advance

We have worked with most of the 600cc motorcycle engines and I am not aware of any that have built in igniters. Most of the OEMs have the igniters built into the ECU like our ECU does. If you are looking for a good coil with biult in ignitors look into GM LS2 or LS7.

The GM ones will almost certainly be the cheapest, but I believe some of the German teams use Audi/VW coils which have ignitors / amplifiers built in as well, may be easier to get depending on what part of the world you live in.

The ignition coil must have 3 wires (+12v, signal, signal gnd) or more if it has a built-in ignitor. I haven't seen one of these on a 600cc I4.
As stated above, the GM coil-near-plug units are hard to beat for performance per dollar. This picasa album, https://picasaweb.google.com/j...5437241081703436370, (https://picasaweb.google.com/jaritlaine/IgnitionEnergyInductive#5437241081703436370,) shows how powerful a bunch of coils are. We run the LS2 coil on our Honda thumper with great results.
I recall seeing Ecotec COP's on someone's 4-cylinder car at comp last week, but can't remember whose car it was.
There are several Bosch coils with built-in ignitors that you might be able to get on the cheap. I've run the P35-T on our dyno motor and saw them on Karlsruhe's F4i at comp last week. Its Bosch p/n is 0 221 604 014. Should you be presented with a pile of Bosch COP's, ones with internal ignitors are X XXX 604 XXX, while ones which require ECU current sinking are X XXX 504 XXX. For example, the P35 is 0 221 504 030. The P100-T, 0 221 604 006, is popular in professional racing and is about as powerful as the LS2/truck coil, but can be expensive. Bosch spills the beans about their coils here: http://www.bosch-motorsport.de...guage2/html/2847.htm (http://www.bosch-motorsport.de/content/language2/html/2847.htm).
Denso also makes several COP's with internal ignitors, but they don't have the cult following of LS coils or the nifty data page of the Bosch ones.
I've spent far too much time researching this, but haven't had to spec a coil for a 600. I'd go with the Bosch PS-T if it'll fit.

Thank you every who replied. Right now we're getting the LS2 coil and going to test it out. I also want to look for another coil just incase this one might not work for our application.
Do you guys happen to know what car or bike uses the P35-T coil? I could not find this information anywhere.
Thank you

Hey,
we were using VW/Audi coils with built in ignitors. I can find out the part numbers, if you need them. They are about 32€ each and fit pretty well in the Suzuki GSX-Rs

Tobias
