SPRING/SUMMER 2009
Apex Speed Technology is leader in Motorsports Electronics, based in Los Angeles, CA. We handle data, control and wiring systems for professional racing teams and car builders worldwide, and are seeking an Intern/Co-op for the 2009 summer/fall term. Our work also includes R&D projects for OEMs, military/governmental research organizations and the marine markets. Candidates must be mechanically inclined with attention to detail, the ability to learn quickly in the field, and strong organization/project management skills. Participation in student vehicle projects is a must. This position would be a good fit for gifted and innovative students who are interested in a career in professional motorsports.
This wide ranging has the primary goal of developing engineering, electronics fabrication and project managment principles and disciplines into the complex, time-sensitive and technically demanding world of motorsports electronics.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, build, and test wiring systems for cars, motorcycles and boats.
Trackside support of professional racing teams, assisting in data collection and analysis.
Setup of new engine management systems, creation of startup calibrations, and assistance with
dynamometer tuning.
Working with customers to determine specifications of new electronics systems.
Working to find vendors and new products.
Managing customer projects, inventory, shipping and receiving.
Job Requirements:
Current degree student in an accredited university-level engineering program.
At least 1 semester experience in a student vehicle project.
Completion and knowledge of basic circuits class.
Mechanically inclined; ability to use basic hand tools with an understanding of motor vehicle systems.
Comfortable with travel, ability to work with customers in the field.
Must demonstrate outstanding attention to detail.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
