hey
can any one tell me the ways of mounting the attenuator to the frame ,

right now we are just sticking honeycomb to an aluminium plate which is fixed to the frame.

bolting it was considered but on impact the bolts will penetrate the plate .

please suggest different solutions

If you place the impact attenuator in front of the mounting plates then you won't load the bolts on impact.

The bolts should just hold the impact attenuator in place.

I'm trying to understand the wording a bit better. If the anti-intrusion plate (0.060" steel) is welded to the front bulk head then the honeycomb/foam can just be bonded to that plate?

I just had that same doubt, wrote to the judges and got the following answer:

It is acceptable to attach the impact attenuator to the metal anti-intrusion plate with adhesive. However, with the Impact Attenuator Report that you submit to meet Rule 3.3.6.4, you should include some information, preferably test data, to show that the bonding between the honeycomb and the plate is strong enough.

Thanks a lot, we were just about to send out for a clarification.
