If you missed Claude Rouelle's seminar two weeks ago, all is not lost. A limited number of seats at the Autoware Webinars will be open to FSAE students.
I attended Claude's seminar this year and he gets very detailed on theory but due to time restraints doesn't really cover the practical applications. The Autoware Webinar's are great follow up if you did attend Claude's seminar and very understandable as standalone presentations.
Your car's performance could be greatly enhanced by this practical application knowledge and experience, so don't miss out.
For more information go to http://www.auto-ware.com/webinar_home.html
Best regards,
John Block

Hi Michael,
I trust you made it home fine from Detroit.
Have you given any more thought to the Statistical Process Control approach I mentioned at lunch that first day? A really good book I suggest is "An Introduction to design of Experiments" by Barrentine
Also, you might want to attend the webinar. Technically all 20 seats are filled, but we had 8 no-shows.
Good to hear from you,
John

John,
In case you have not heard from Bill, we tried to attend the first one but our slow connection out in the boonies prevented me from fixing the missing .dll file problem I had with my computer. We'll try to make the rest of them though.

Howdy,
My name is Dan, I was the suspension/testing team leader for the '05 UNM team. Our team was fortunate enough to have extensive help from John in with testing and data acquisition. We learned an enormous amount from him in a very short amount of time, and we were able to really make the most out of our short amount of testing time prior to competition.
I personally have also benefitted from my work with John. After graduation I was hired on with the R & D dept. at Answer Products working on the Manitou Fork and Shock development. I feel that my experience and knowledge gained from working with John helped me get this job.
I would highly recommend these seminars to any and all FSAE people involved with testing and or suspension. I plan on attending them myself, as I know there is still a lot I can learn from Mr. Block.

Now that most everybody is back in class it's that time again! Also, now that the rules have eliminated much of the cost report requirement for data acquisition it is a huge disadvantage not to use a data system on your car.
Properly used data acquisition will not only help you improve your design, but the judges like it and understand the value as well (hence the rule change on costing). Besides being fun you will be amazed at what you learn (even if you did read Milliken and Gillespie cover to cover).

PS. The next round of seminars starts September 6th, so check it out!

In 1970 I started racing modifieds and have never lifted since! The trail has include a trip to the pole at the Indy 500, poles at Daytona and Talladega, and Indy cars, stock cars, trucks and everything in between.
In that time many things have come and gone, but the biggest impact for me has clearly come from data acquisition. So, here is an open invitation to get a look at what data acquisition is and how it works on an unusual topic "Driver skills."
This Thursday the Autoware webinars will be free for anybody here on the FSAE Forum that wishes to attended. All you have to do is email me or call (800) 647-2392 ext 201 for the access code.

We are starting a new round of webinars on the 16th of Feb. If you are a past student of the seminars remember to call and get you free access code if you wish to attend again.
I wish we could afford to give this free to everyone, but we have bills to pay, too. However, the first person to call 800.647.2392 ext 201 will get a free seat in the class.

Just a comment on this seminar, for those who went to Claude's seminar should find this webinar is far more detail into DAQ than Claude did in his seminar.
Both are great guys and very knowledgable, but i find Mr. Block's webinar more towards the application of DAQ than Claude's.
The webinar is an hour long, twice a week which is a lot easier on my head than Claude's 2 day seminar. You'd be able to sink everything in, rather than shove everything in in 2 days.
Think of this webinar as the difference between PE and MOTEC. You get far more stuff with MOTEC but with the customer support and the price, i bet you learn more from PE than MOTEC.

Greetings,
It is once again time to run the webinars on data acquisition, and as in the past, we open this up free of charge to one school. The only catch is that you be the first to request the seat in the class. You can email your request to autoware@aol.com. For more info on these webinars go to http://www.auto-ware.com/webinar_home.html
