Hey guys,

I would like to run the stock individual coil overs on our Kawi this year instead of the typical set of coil packs that we have to buy and are heavy.

Anyone had any success with this (i'm sure people have)? What all is involved in getting this to work? I'm kinda clueless when it comes to electrical stuff. I try to stay away from it so I dont cause problems.

Thanks,
Akron Engine Guy

haha most confusing post ever... stock individual coil overs = shocks... coils = ignition, what ECU are you using?

Ahh....don't mind Anthony, he's a little slow. We keep him chained in the dyno room with an old TV, and feed him Baby Ruth's every now and then. (I think the E85 fumes are starting to get to him.)

Anyway, yes, he meant "coil-on" plug ignition....and we're running a MoTeC M4 on a 1999-2001 ZX-6J motor.

you need an ignition expander, or whatever you want to call it, you can make your own search yahoo or google, for do it yourself coil driver

You should have no problem doing it. You will need Bosch ignitor 0227 100 200 or similar. We use that part, with a pretty Haltech sticker stuck on it, to drive our stock Kawi coils. That igniter is only two channel so we run wasted spark with coils 1 and 4 and 2 and 3 in series.

0227 100 211 is a 4 channel.

What were the coils out of that you used for the F2, the ones we have now don't fit.

Martin, I assume you have experience running the 0227 100 211 4 channel Bosch igniter. Do you know what the wiring for that is? I see 5 input pins, 4 output. Is that +12, 4 input triggers (from ECU), and 4 outputs to the coils? Is the body ground?

I'm getting my info on it from this picture:

Does anyone else know about this one or other igniters? What igniters do people running the Motec use?
