Hi, I am designing a fuel system for a formula sae car as part of my mechanical engineering capstone project. I am only provided one high pressure pump and am curious about the various ways to avoid fuel pump starvation. Also, besides aluminum what are the common materials used and what are the advantages and disadvantages of them. I am fairly new at this, so thanks in advance for any help.

1) Origami paper
Advantage: Very light
Disadvantage: Doesn't hold fuel well
2) Large glass bottle
Advantage: Does hold fuel well
Disadvantage: Heavy and fragile
Come on... You will surely know some alternatives to aluminum? This forum isn't there to do your homework.
If you have a specific question, maybe "I decided to manufacture our fuel tank out of CFRP, I have done some research, it seems to me that resin A and maybe a coating with X should provide fuel resistance, does anybody have some experience with that?" - then you will get some serious answers.
