How are you guy mounting a fiberglass body to frame? Do you mold the mounts into the body?

drill a hole in the body and put a dzus fastener in and presto, if your body fits tight against the frame. if it doesnt the design judges will laugh at you http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This is not for a fsae car it is for a project that I am thinking of doing and need a smooth outside appearance and am hoping I can get some unique ideas from here.

A different way to do this is use nylon rivets. They are hard to explain but can be found at www.mcmaster.com (http://www.mcmaster.com) ; catalog page 3110. Depending on your specific application any one of these could work. Main downside that removing them isnt
as simple as dzus fasteners and they can be damaged. But they are LIGHT and CHEAP !!!!!!!

We used these a few years back. They work well, only if you are not taking the body off and on very often. Which is why we didn't use them again in FSAE as the body is always off and on. But when new they held the body on very tightly.

Dzus fasteners work extremely well and you can paint over them to match the mody work when you shoot that, so they end up looking really clean if done properly. Another way is to use clevis pins and cotter pins. Just tack the pins to the frame before powder coat and then it ends up being very light and easy to take body on and off...probably not optimal for applications outside of FSAE...
