As you're making travel arrangements for the Formula SAE/Student Competitions in Michigan, Silverstone and Germany, remember to stick around for the Vehicle Dynamics & Data Acquisition Seminars presented by Claude Rouelle directly after each competition. See why some teams placed better than others, and get a head-start on the set-up and design of your next Formula car.

The three day course is geared toward Formula Student engineers who want better track performance, thanks to a deeper understanding of race car engineering. Win. Know why. Win again.

Vehicle Dynamics and Formula SAE/Student Engineering Seminar
by Claude Rouelle, president of OptimumG

Michigan State University, May 16-18

Oxford Brookes University, July 19-21

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, August 9-11

In 3 intensive days you will get the equivalent of 2 semesters of vehicle dynamics courses:
• Acquire easy and practical ways to understand the fundamentals of vehicle dynamics and apply them to race car design, testing and development.
• Learn to “connect the dots” between tires, aerodynamics, weight distribution, kinematics, steady state and transient weight transfer, damping, engine and transmission.
• Comprehend the connections between car design, car setup, circuit profile and driving styles.
• Appreciate the benefits and the possible limitations of data acquisition, modeling and simulation.
• Acquire a “good idea of the larger picture” by knowing the challenges faced by engineers in their specific department.
• Have the opportunity to ask specific questions related to the car you work on and get direct answers.

Visit our website and find the entire list of seminar topics and to sign-up for the seminar. The seminar typically costs $1,500 USD per person, but as a student you are eligible for a discounted price of $550 USD per person, or $475 per person if you have a group of three or more. To receive the student discount, please send the following information to engineering@optimumg.com:

• Name
• Email address
• School and major studying
• Formula SAE/Student team & role
• Scanned copy of your student ID or class schedule

Good luck as you prepare for the FSAE competitions, and let us know if you have any questions or would like to sign up for the seminar.
