I've heard the record on the dyno is 82Hp
79 @ 12500rpm Yamaha R6 DTA P8Pro.

2004 SVSU '97 GSX-R 600 - Walbro Bike604 ECU with dual-stage FI
82.1hp at 12,000 with 1 3/8" exhaust - great top end power from 10k to 13k
79.3hp at 11,500 with 1 1/4" exhaust - much improved low end power up to 9k
measured at transmission output shaft in 4th gear

Who cares? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
we haven't put all the stickers on the car yet, so our hp is still pretty low...
seriously though, given the wide range in weight of these cars, hp/lb is probably much more relevant.

What I meant was PEAK hp is irrelevant...

About 50hp peak. On a cold day.
I'm with Charlie, who really cares?

69hp from 10,000rpm to the 14,000rpm redline.
I'd agree though, its not the peak you want to concern yourselves with, its the area under the torque curve.

Was that HP record with or without 13" chrome spinners?

As I was reading this thread I thought I'd make a correction. The record on the dyno was set by the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998 at 96.8 HP.

where is that documented tim?

We have a copy and plaque of it here in Madison, and I imagine that dynojet keeps a record of their own. That car had absolutely no width to the power band and didn't survive endurance due to the boost, classic casses for not designing around absolute peak horespower.

I can back up Tim's claim. Dynojet used to give out the data from competition along with viewing software to FSAE teams who asked nicely. I got the data for the 98 competition from them. They are the all-time champs.

As an additional bit of information, it would be nice to know whether or not the figures are with a naturally asperated, or forced induction, engine.

The fuel would matter too. The power capability of Ethanol and Gas are pretty close at stoic, but Methanol has considerably more.

Here at Brookes we have got 97.5BHP on 97 octane pump fuel. The engine is a Triumph 600TT. This is a works engine supplied to us from Triumph. Our 03b car will be at FSAE next week. Due to time delays on the engine, the car hasnt had a massive amount of testing, but hopefully we should be strong in our first FSAE.

One last run today......55hp at the wheels....nice and flat from 6000 to 12000

Yeah, we have managed a very flat torque curve too. about 60Nm from 6500 through to 12000

Currently we are somewhere around zero RWHP. The good news is that R6 pistons are harder than valves.

We're running the f4i, and had 81 horses at 8300. That was on the dyno, so essentially at the sprocket. Unfortunately, now that we have put the engine in the car, and hooked up a different fuel pump, all of our calibrationis off. while tweaking, our ECU stopped sending the signal to the ECU to turn it on. so now we are down to zero. I wish it were as easy as swapping a new head on. Fuel injection may be extremely tuneable, but God I love Carbs.
4 days to go, still not driving time...

61 to the wheels on our Dynojet.
4.19s 75m time with a 476 lb car.

67hp at the wheels w/44lb-ft of torque from 5500 onwards. This is with a turbo that leaks oil when easing off the throttle. This will all be solved by next year. With the new turbo I think we can surpass Cornell next time around... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We put 86 hp to the sprocket with an R6 motor, and we put 69.5hp to the wheels on the questionable land & Sea syno at competition. IIRC, we had the highest NA horsepower this year even tho there was no real award for it.
