We have immediate openings for two race support engineers with FSAE experience and strong vehicle dynamics, data acquisition, and MATLAB skills. Position would be based in New Hudson, Michigan.

BASIC PURPOSE:
Apply automotive/motorsports engineering expertise to solve engineering design and development problems.
Integrate software tools and methods to provide solutions that can be deployed into the race vehicle engineering
and development process.

ASSIGNED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Primary Role - Motorsports Race Team Engineering Support
? Race support engineer supporting various design, setup, and race strategy activities
? Management of vehicle instrumentation and data logging
? Vehicle dynamics and chassis system simulation
? Simulation support for vehicle development
? Simulation support for race operations
? Data analysis and regression in support of race operations
2. Matrix Role - CAE Tools & Methods Development
? Develop simulation tools & methods as required by motorsports program
? Support development of general PME tools & methods
? Development collaboration with CAE efforts of other PME programs

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical responsibilities may also include but are not limited to the following items:
1. Product Design & Development
? System and component design using parametric solids CAD modeling
? Application of Finite Element Analysis in design optimization
? Mechanical and hydraulic system modeling and simulation
? Software application development
? Laboratory testing, data analysis and signal processing
? Use hands-on skills to manufacture, prepare, maintain and repair vehicle assemblies
? Use automotive experience to add value to the customers engineering process (i.e. validation
and testing support)
? Prepare project status reports
2. Motorsport Program Support & Management
? Damper testing, rebuilding and analysis
? Development of event test plans
? Data acquisition instrumentation, installation and analysis
? Data analysis and database entry

3. Project Support
? Support and resolve customer problems using mechanical, analytical, CAE and project
management skills
? Prepare technical specifications for use by Pratt&Miller Engineering
? Develop testing methods and procedures for use by Pratt & Miller Engineering
? Investigate alternative business opportunities
4. Tool & Methods Technology Development
? Develop CAE methods to advance Pratt&Miller Engineering CAE toolsets
? Design and develop laboratory testing hardware and systems
? Manage and integrate Tools & Methods Technology into the Pratt&Miller Engineering process
5. General PME Functions
? Pratt & Miller meetings
? Interaction with current & potential customers regarding the use of Pratt&Miller tools
? Planning & program management on internal and customer projects
? Education / training
? Provide feedback on product needs and processes

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Desired Education and Training
? BS or MS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive Engineering
Desired Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
? Pi Workshop, Motec and data systems operation experience
? MATLAB, VBA, C++, Fortran, MS/Access programming language experience
? ADAMS and Multi-body system simulation
? Data acquisition hardware and software experience
? Unigraphics, IDEAS, Mechanical Desktop parametric CAD modeling
? Knowledge of OEM production and motorsport automotive industry
? Knowledge or experience in engineering tools & methods

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
