Can anyone recommend any books or journals that give the theory behind the choice of wheel. i.e why people/teams use 10" wheels rather than 12" , why different offsets are desierable etc.

With maybe some worked examples.

I dont know if Im just looking in the wrong places but Im finding it hard to find anything of any use

Not that its going to be helpful, but we, and I believe most other schools, run 13" wheels.

the only good "scientific" way to figure this out is lapsim.

the easy way to figure it out is decide what goals you want for your car, and pick accordingly.

A tip J Boiii,
Research available tyres before choosing a wheel size!

Try the search function, probably a whole lot of other posts about it. Maybe other racing forums too... I seem to recall a thread somewhere here about some good ones.

Geez, sticky threads would be nice. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
