Heyho guys,

because of the "desaster" at the registration for Formula Student Germany where we were just too late and a really strange registration for Formula Student UK (submitted a form in time, got a confirmation e-mail but no starting place) I would like to know how to get a starting place at Formula ATA.

Yes, I know, I have to read what is written on their homepage, but is there something special at that registration that will definitively throw you out if you fail/forget to do something or if you do something that is probably not allowed but not clearly described on their registration website?

Thanks ...

Sorry to hear that you (probably?) couldn't get a spot at any of the two events.

Concerning FS ATA, last year you just had to send an email at a given time. So there wasn't really anything you could have done when you didn't get a spot. Email could get stuck vor some seconds, timestamp could be wrong, etc etc.

I know, not the best prospective, but at least the last two years the registration wasn't as fierce as the FSG and FS UK ones. Also, I think the event will be larger this year.

This year registration informations for Formula SAE Italy (ATA) are online now. More informations you can find on their website (http://www.ata.it/it/formulaata/view/6/formula-sae-italy-2009/content/28/how-to-register/).

Just another click competition ;-)

Hmm, that information was not on the website two hours ago http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

OK, but what about sending in two forms? Having multiple team members typing in the necessary information and submitting the form? Will the first form be accepted? Will a starting place be reserved if we want to pay by bank transfer and not by credit card?

I will ask the officials this, too.

As said before. The registration process was completely different last year. If you get any helpful information from the officials could you post them here?
Otherwise everybody has to ask them the same. Thank you.

I will even ask them to put the answer on their website. Great idea, isn't it?

Questions to and answers from Mrs Rossi, Registration & Logistics Formula ATA Italy 2009:

Q1:
Is it allowed to submit multiple forms per team, i.e. having multiple
team members at different locations submit a form to ensure that there
is a "backup form" if the internet connection at one location breaks down?

A1:
Only one form must be submitted per team. Morover, Faculty Advisors or Team Leaders are the only ones allowed to send the form to ATA and any other technical documents.

Q2:
Will a starting place be reserved if a team submits a form in time, but
chooses to pay the registration fees by bank transfer and not by credit
card?

A2:
The first 40 teams will be admitted to entry the class 1 and the first 5 teams the class 3. In case of bank transfer, you will have 48 hours time to send the proof of payment to ATA, certifying date and time. After that, the team will be deleted.

Q3:
Is it required to have a VAT number? In germany, it is not required to
have such a number, although we can apply for such a number.

A3:
Yes, it is. If the invoice must be issued to the University's name, ATA needs to have the University's VAT number (it must have it!). While if you decide for the Team's name or a natural person, we do not neet the VAT number, but only the full address and a short declaration that the team does not have a VAT-Code.

#####

Quite interesting: Submit a form, send money to ATA, and then your team will be deleted http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Omg,

The FSG Registration might be unfair, but at least it is simple...

I don't think it is unfair, i think it is fair because it is simple. It is not about being the fastest at typing, it is about being the fastest at clicking. And you have no real chance to do something wrong.

How exactly can we get a VAT number?? What is the process??

VAT = tax number

They need this VAT number in order to issue the innvoice for the fee payment.

Who is responsible for your finances?
Ashwa Racing or your University?

Depends on the laws of your country and, as FStotal said, on who does your finances.

But we do not require a VAT number if we get the invoice in a personal name right?

No, i don't think you need to have one, Gaanja

Thanks Tilman

@ FStotal: Ashwa Racing is completely responsible for the finances so even if we have to get the invoice in the name of Ashwa Racing we do not need a VAT number right?

Sigh...

So no pizza for us this year it seems.
Quiet a number of german teams in Italy (19 out of 40). There has really something to happen competition-wise in Europe if there are always 30 Teams on the waiting list.

Let`s hope they will allow some more teams in bella Italia.

In 4 minutes, 40 teams were registered...

WTF ?

They have to make the competitions bigger or just add another country or something...

We got ucky and we're in for Formula ATA this September.

Seems lke we'll be racing our first car in Italy http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
