The Coventry University team are considering doing a documentary/fly on the wall video explaining what FS is all about and then following the teams progress up until the event. This will be used as an educational aid for next years students because, although we say we learn from mistakes, only the lecturing staff do. Every year, when new students enter the team, they seem to have a "holier than thou" attitude which means they ignore staff and then stumble over the same problems year in, year out.
I am wondering if any other teams around the world have already created such an item and if so, are there any hints or tips you learnt when you were doing it.
We have a media department at the university but it will be made primarily by 2 final year students with limited video editing experience so any software recommendations etc will be welcome too.
Cheers guys

Sounds like a plan! If they're complete newbies, head to Dixons/Currys/PC World and play with the Apple computers. iMovie is basic and a piece of cake to use. Won't be "professional" but should serve your purposes fine and is cheap as chips should you need to buy the licence.

There may be an element of the staff 'wanting' you to make the same mistakes year after year such that every year 'learns' from the excersise?

I don't think the point is to not learn, just to learn without the mistakes.

You may want to check out Final Cut Pro...it's pretty cool software, and from what I understand...not too difficult or expensive.

The staff just want people who are new to the team to understand the basics from the word go and the best way to get across to students is via tv so they have asked me to create a documentary. Sadly we dont use apples so if you can recommend any windows software i would appreciate it.
