hi..
wa are an fsae team from india.. its really hard for us to procure an engine here, nearly impossible..
hence would like to know, are the engines that are posted on sites like ebay worth going for.are the engines posted on such sites in the condition that they seem to be in..
does anyone have a past experince in buying engines online?(bad or good)
can anyone suggest an alternative on how we can procure an engine!!!
thank you...

Have you checked out the Delhi and RVCE teams? I know RVCE imported an engine from Singapore, you might want to ask them.
PS: try an auto rickshaw motor and do what UM Dearborn did.

our team had a fairly good experience with an ebay seller. we purchased 2 honda CBR250 motors from him. i would look around for a little while on ebay and find a seller that is fairly reputable first.

Some ebay sellers are reputable businesses such as motorcycle salvage yards. Some are not It is risky to deal on ebay. Even if 75% of the time the engine is as advertised, that's still a big risk.
I would deal with a salvage yard directly. Because you guys pay such huge importing fees, you can't afford to do it twice.
Perhaps someone on here can direct you to a good one, or I think it has been discussed. Try searching.

I have had great service from www.partszparts.com (http://www.partszparts.com) . I could never get them to come off the price alot (they guy seemed like several teams have hit him up for a deal).
We bought an '03 F4i with ALL running gear. Everything for like $1500 shipped from mishigan to KY.
Try emailing them at sales@partszparts.com and check out their website.
