Does anyone know where to get thin (.025-.040) 4130 sheet metal in the normalized or annealed condition, or where we can get annealed sheet metal heat treated?

Normalized is the "default" condition 4130 is supplied in, I believe. We get it from a local branch of EMJ. (http://www.emjmetals.com/emjonlinenew/)

We take our parts to a local heat-treater, who gives us a two- or three-day turnaround and no charge. It helps to be in an aerospace city...

The place that supplied pretty much everyone in the country went bankrupt, and now all I can find is 4130 sheet in the annealed condition. I even tried EMJ and they didn't have it. If anyone else has any suppliers, I would like to know about them. Also Denny, could you tell me who does your heat treating?

Kind of pricy, but Aircraftspruce has come through for me many times!

If you want to harden it you have to do it after welding!

I believe Aircraft Spruce buys from TW and then retails it.
