Hydraulic 4wd off the shelf

Hi,

Just thought I'd post up some info I just read in an engineering magazine about Yamaha's 2wd trail bike with hydraulic FWD. They have just released these things as a production item, and the interesting thing for people considering this as a way of powering the front wheels of an FSAE car is that they use an off the shelf hydraulic motor and pump.

- Pump - Rexroth A2F05 axial piston pump (2.5kg as a standard aluminium cased production item. 1.4kg as a magnesium cased version on the yamaha)

- Motor - Rexroth A2FM5

It would be interesting to know what sort of money these go for.

Bath University had an 4 Wheel Hydraulic drive on their 2003 car. Maybe they can give further informations!

I highly doubt it is strong enough or has the proper fluid flow for our applications but thats not to say a bigger pump cant be sourced. But 4wd is a big waste of time for what we do so.... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
