Hey all,
To all the Australian teams, does anyone know where you can get aluminium alloy 6061-T6 plate that has a thickness >=55mm. Smart Aluminium used to but nowadays there thickest plate is 50.8mm. I cannot use any other alloy because of the strength requirements of the uprights.

Cheers,

You sure 7075-T7 or -T6 wont work? Or 7068-T6?

at tullamarine airport in melbourne, may not have 6061, but can probably supply something better. I think Bohler Uddeholm also carry a fair stock. They will probably have a warehouse in QLD.

Apollo metals carries 6061-T6 in round and flat plate I think the thickest is 200mm. I may be wrong but that is what i remember from talking to their sales guy last week.

Thanks guys,
Yeah the fella from Apollo was great. Got what I wanted and for a price well inside what I expected. Now to try and resolve our tie rod issue.

Cheers,
Chris

I am using IKO spherical rod ends for our tie rods and toe links. Nachi is the australian distributor. They are available in a wide range of metric and imperial sizes in both right and left handed threads. Just email their sales for your local distributor

Hey Olly,
I went to the IKO website and came to the page where all of the catalogues are situated, but I could not find any tie-rod catalogues (I would have also posted the URL but the IKO site is currently screwing up with the computer).

Is the tie-rod catalogue in a separate location, do you have to specifically request it or am I just blind. Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Chris

Hey Chris,

Sorry I didn't tell the full story as my internet at home is painfully slow i couldn't check how you actually get to the catalogue. If you go to the IKO page and then go to the CAD drawings section (you have to enter a form, but it's free). Then look through the tree under bearings then Pilloballs and then click on 3d the catalogue will magically appear. It's the only place i know of an online catalogue for IKO otherwise contact your local distributor.

Cheers

Olly
