Hi all,
I am in discussion with Claude about him coming as a Design Judge at FSAEA and also presenting a FSAE Seminar immediately after the event.
It's a big deal to get Claude here to do that, both in terms of cost and Claude's time. Thankfully his enthusiasm for FSAE permits me to take advantage of his generosity.
What we are talking about is a THREE day seminar, with all the bells and whistles (as well as the deliciously disgraceful jokes and the funny but instructive film clips =] The cost per head for this is Au$425 a head! This Is a good deal as anyone who has done the OptimumG experience will tell you. BUT>>>>
In order for this to work, I MUST fill the house. Claude may be a generous guy, but airfares a week before Christmas are not cheap, nor are the other costs involved.
Before I can lock this whole thing in, I need some kind of indication of how many attendees we can expect. This offer will be open to FSAE teams present or future, and I will be very flexible in determining who will qualify. However, to be fair to Claude, I cant accept anyone who would normally qualify for Claude's full price seminars.
I need urgent response to this post as the earlier Claude can buy a ticket, the better deal he can do. Either respond to this post or email me at jpatc 'at' bigpond dot com
Regards
Pat

Hi Pat,
I'd say we would probably like to have a couple of students from UWA attending, pending flights and accommodation details to be sorted out of course.
Cheers,

Thanks Guys,
I will start to gather names to get a definitive list later this week, so I can let Claude know the details and hopefully we can get this show on the road.
Keep those nominations rolling in
Pat
Hi Pat,
We'll have somewhere between 3 and 5 people attending. Just getting confirmations from team members.

Greetings all,
For anyone touring down here from interstate, (or OS for that matter), drop us a line if accommodation is going to be a problem. We might be able to billet a few heads here and there, and depending on where the seminar is we also should be able to find reasonably cheap, reasonably close, student dorm-type accommodation for team groups. Pat, any announcements as to where the seminar might be?
Cheers all,
PatClarke

That offer is a great help Geoff, and thanks for your support.
I imagine the seminar will be at MoTeC, same as last time...truth is I forgot to ask Claude. If not I'm sure we will find a venue.
Claude seems out of touch at the moment...Probably doing a Racing Dogsled seminar in Nunavut =]

Hi Pat,
A few of our guys are also interested in attending. I'll come up with something a little more specific later in the week.

USYD would like to add another 2 people. So that brings us up to 5 people in total. 1 of those is a student who finished half way through 2007. Is this OK?

Hi Pat,
ADFA will have 4 students and a lecturer? Is it possible for a lecturer to attend? If so how much will it cost?

Pat,
Would it be possible to hold the seminar at Vic uni (or somewhere else close to the comp)? That would greatly cut down on travel. Anyone else think this is a good suggestion?

Tim,
A venue close to comp will most likely be confirmed this week for the seminar.

Hi, sorry for the silence, been busy.
The dates are certainly December 17th to 19th and the location, yet to be confirmed, will be RMIT.
Cheers
Pat

BUMP,
Hi all,
I have had a communication from Nunavut where Claude is calculating the slip angle of Husky dog paws on packed snow.
The Course is certainly on as per the directions on the optimumg.com site, however, we really do need a few more starters to ensure it is a viable option at the special reduced price.
I know that a bad student habit is to leave things to the last moment, but if you do intend coming, then log on and register please.
See you next week
Cheers
Pat

Apologies all, I had planned to chase up some accommodation but have been well distracted in the last couple of months. Anyway, I wasn't able to find any billet accom, but Latrobe Uni is just down the road from RMIT, and they have student residential colleges on campus. They told me $44 a night for a single room. If you are still looking, give them a call on (03) 9479 1565
Cheers all, and we look forward to seeing you all at and after the event
