View Full Version : Honda CBR600 FY Trigger pattern signal

Hello everyone,

Im hoping there is someone out their that can help. I am using the engine out of a 51 reg CBR600 FY to be used in the FSAE event this year. I really need to know the trigger pattern output signal for this engine as I am fitting an Omex ECU with custom fuel injection and need to know if I need a signal converter.
The type am looking for is somthing like 60-2, 36-1,24-1 etc.

If you know or you know someone or somewere that may know, it would be a great help if you could pass on this information.

Either:

A) Hook up a scope to the crank sensor, hit the starter, watch the scope and count.

B) Count the teeth on the trigger wheel.

I don't mean to be rude but...You understand what those designations mean yea?

Just to lay it out there, 60-2, 36-1, 24-1 are references to the number of teeth. A 60-2 wheel will have space for 60 teeth total, with teeth every 6* around the wheel (360/60=6*), except 2 teeth will be missing. Similarly, a 36-1 wheel will be split such that you could have 36 teeth on it, but a tooth will be missing somewhere. This missing tooth is the reference sync for the software (like a reset back to 0).

The crank (or cam) sensor is usually a reluctance based device; when ferrous material passes nearby it outputs a voltage. The front of the tooth approaches the sensor, causing a change in voltage, then the rear face of the tooth passes, causing a return to the base voltage. These are called the "rising" and "falling" edges, in your tuning software. It's important to understand which ones to use, otherwise your intended and realized timing will disagree (not necessarily a bad thing, if you know about it).
