Does anyone know the weights of the Goodyear rain and slick tires in size 20x6,5x13 ?
Wich one is heavier the rain tires or the slick ones (Assuming the same size)?

From Goodyear.com
Goodyear Slicks (http://www.racegoodyear.com/products/racect21sae.html)
Goodyear Rains (http://www.racegoodyear.com/products/racect25.html)
Rains are by-far heavier
Hope this helps.

I know this is an old thread but does anyone know the weights of those tires? Just an approximation would help.
The links in the above post has long changed and do not work.

The TTC DVD has the weights (along with a bunch of other stuff that you might find useful) of each type of tire tested. It's somewhere in the excel spreadsheet called '1175 Summary Tables'.

For the record, Kumho V710's are very heavy compared to both the Hoosiers and the Goodyears (about 18lbs each). Mostly because they're DOT legal radials. We got V710's sponsored for our first year car and it's about a 40lb total increase in weight over bias plys. Rotating weight too http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif .
I think for this series a molded rain tire is the kiss of death.

I don't know, after what I hear from the last Australia comp, they might come in handy. At least I think it was Australia.
My thinking is that by the time you get enough standing water to warrant going to a molded rain tire instead of a hand-carved intermediate they're not going to let teams run anyway. I could be wrong though.

You're probably right, I think they stopped in Michigan 2004, though I think that was sleet.

I think it was a cross between a tornado and the end of the world.

It was pretty crazy. Lightening touching down in the paddock :-) We all got sent to a big warehouse/hanger on the edge of the site and watched the weather show from there. It was quite atmospheric in the design semi tent as the thunder rolled around.

Oh yeah, now I remember the older members laughing because lots of people were cowering at the prospect of a tornado.
I guess us Okies have a decreased danger sense since we see them every month or so during spring. It's more of a "hey grab the video camera and let's jump in the truck" reflex.
