There is no pin point location for a pneumatic cylinder! Depends on the stroke required and your selection of cylinder....space available in chassis, etc......I'l give you a hint....we mount ours on the engine itself!

If you have to ask these kinds of questions, I strongly advise not running a pneumatic shifting system. My team has ran pneumatic shifting for four years, and I argued against using it this year for reliability purposes.

I'm just guessing, but chances are you have much bigger problems than pneumatic shifting right now.
