We've been having a little bit of trouble finding someone to cut us some axles. I've got a couple people to follow up with, but I'd certainly like some more options. Would anyone mind sharing a company they use and some contact info for that company?

Thanks,

We use Moser Engineering. They do excellent work but are pricey. They charged about $40 an end to spline stuff and didnt give us any deals even after I begged. http://www.moserengineering.com

I've talked to Moser. My CVs are actually at their shop. What concerned me was he called back and told me that our shaft had a smaller diameter and if he ground their stock down to that size, there would be no heat treatment left in the material. This would imply they don't heat treat the axles after cutting. That's not necessarily a problem, but if everything could be done in one place, that would be nice.

I meant to call him back today, but ran out of time, so I need to call him tomorrow to see what my options are.

You say they charged $40 an end to spline stuff; does this mean you just bought 4340 elsewhere and then sent it to them to cut? They did tell me they could cut up to Rockwell 60.

Yea I bought 4340, machined it to my specs, had it heat treated locally, than sent it to them just for splining. They actually charged $50 per end, I dug out the invoice.
