I was wondering if we could buy a set of rain tires and perhaps wheels at the comp? Could we also get them mounted at the comp? Would anyone be interested in trading a set of brand new Hoosiers slicks for rain tires and wheels?
Thanks

Goodyear and Hoosier will have tires and mounting services available on-site. Bring your credit card...

If you're not going to use those Hoosiers, take them back, punk! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

It was something like $500 last time we bought Goodyear rains in 2003 at the stadium. I think that's the normal price, and mounting was included if I recall correctly. But, don't count on it.

That's still cheaper than getting them through Kraus! I'm begining to think we were had.

I am not sure about what Goodyear's policy is, but I know pretty well that the Hoosier guys, Jeff and Tom, will take pre-competition orders for tires and make sure they are on the truck when the show up at Detroit. This means that in addition to the tires that they already have with them, they will reserve a set for you specifically. We have in the past bought rain tires at competiton for around $500 and it has saved us the hassel of having them shipped to us a week before and get them mounted on our end of things.
I would suggest calling Hoosier or Goodyear EARLY on monday to see if you can still get some tires for your team on their respective trucks for competiton.

Is there a specific representative we have to call ?
Kirk: Kraus is an expensive place. They wanted to charge me 500 dollars for a corner weight and alignment.
Again, I am not sure who the contact is for Goodyear, but you can talk with Jeff Spear at Hoosier (great guy to deal with). His number is on the hoosier tire website and I don't believe he and the rest of the hoosier guys are going to be onsite at detroit until wednesday so you can probably reach him monday in the morning.

Question: Will we have much time on the 18th to do setup in a practice area? It would be nice to break in any new tires if we decide to purchase them.
Kirk - We were going to return them, but Kraus was going to charge us a 20% restocking fee. As far as grooving is concerned, we would have had to pay another $200 bucks...

There is a practice area that you can use assuming you get all your tech stickers, and it is fairly small, but there aren't that many people trying to use it.
