Anyone planning on attending this event December 5-7th in Dearborn? It's free for SAE Student Members, so the only cost is airfare/rental car/hotel. I just looked and airfare is getting a little cheaper again. Hotel and rental cars could be shared if need be.

I'm thinking that might be time for a vacation for me. Any other takers?

I would hardly call Michigan in December a vacation. If you'd like, we can trade places and I can go to Florida for that weekend http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. Anyways, I will be in attendance, but unfortunately I can't help you out with lodging. I'm only 2 hours down the rode, sorry...

I would definitely recommend attending this event. It is only every 2 years. I went in 2002 (http://fsae.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/648600998/m/3666035561?r=3666035561#3666035561), and it was a real eye-opener. I drove up from Alabama (event was in Indy that year) and stayed at a cheap hotel about 3 miles away. Had to skip some classes, drive through the night by myself (couldn't find anyone from my team man enough to take the free ride http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ), and walk about 2 miles from my hotel each day to get there, but it was all worth it.

2 years later, I was presenting a paper at the 2004 conference. (http://fsae.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/125607348/m/70810458811?r=70810458811#70810458811) Suprisingly, they don't give you any breaks on lodging or travel expenses, even as a presenter.

It's a great way to network, learn new ideas and concepts, and just get a general idea of how the motorsports industry works.

The fact that students can come FREE is incredible. Most have to pay about $400!! Take advantage of this!

Hope to go this year but it's no longer free and I have a job to do now.

me and a few others from UMD are going to be there. I'm up for some karting and possibly a trip to the coleseum if anyone was to meet up.

I'm debating going, but it falls during finals and I'd be hard pressed to make everything work right

I'll be there, unless they really need me at work those days.

i remember reading with great excitement the details about this event, and even greated excitement that students are free..

My bubble was burst when i discovered the last day of the conference is a day before my first final, lol. So in short i dont think i'll be hitting it up this year..

If I can make it(depending on classes), we'll see if we can get something organized at Cart to Cart.

Anyone up for splitting a hotel Monday-Thursday nights? I am, after all, a broke college student.

Yeah...I'll be there. Depends if i will get in. Only 150 students will be allowed. I live like a 20 minute drive accross the border in Windsor.

I wish i could stay longe.r. but i have fluid dynamics exam in like 3 days...
