BRT rack splines

I was wondering if anyone else using brt steering racks has had trouble getting the steering shaft splines to match up. We're using one this year for the first time and it looks like it should be a 5/8" 36 spline piece, but the 5/8" 36 spline coupler that we got from somewhere else is just a hair too small. Are we missing something?
