Our team want to apply a turbocharger in our car. The engine is an one-cylinder 600 cc motorcycle engine.
I wonder if the IHI RHF3 turbocharger can fit.
I am really a rookie in this field. So any help will be appreciated.

Archyz,
Making a turbocharger operate successfully on a single cylinder engine is almost impossible and is certainly not something a rookie team should be contemplating.
There is far more performance to be found in a simple car, built early and LOTS of testing and driver training.

^^^^ This, with a combination of the 20mm restrictor and a single cylinder engine, to gain any performance will take countless hours in design and CFD of the intake and exhaust, that's if its even possible.
concentrate on what Pat said and you will be much better off.
P.s. what engine you running (600cc single) didn't know such thing existed.

turbocharging impossible? countless hours? UTA placed top ten (i believe, cannot find the stats right now) overall and in endurance, on a 250cc crf250x with custom fuel injection and an IHI turbo. Complicated? not at all, the setup was very clean and simple, and UTA claimed upwards of 45hp from their engine.

UTA also has three decades of experience under their belts and are a top-tier team stateside.
Is it impossible? No. It is nearly impossible for a first-year rookie asking questions like "will this turbocharger work"? Probably.

uh, that was an MC22 engine...CBR250RR...it's a 4 cylinder. Did they do something different since 07?

I'm pretty sure they were running a crf250x thumper with a turbo this year, because we were trying to take notes on their setup after our own failed venture into single cylinder turbocharging with a crf450x

Hey Guys,
It is a CRF250X single with an RHF3. We had our fair share of engine development issues, but none of them related to the fact that it was a single cylinder engine with a turbocharger.
You can PM me for more information if you'd like.

Yeah. I've found this topic finally...
I'm Archyz's teammate. We used a GT12 turbo at last and got an acceptable result. turbo-lag was the only problem.
Mmmm to Archzy: we can never forget the good old days in the mid of 2010
