Hey,

We are a relatively new team and have recently acquired a lot of new software. I am looking to pick up a desktop computer for our shop but am not sure what specs I am going to need. We will be running:
-Solidworks
-Ricardo WAVE
-Optimum K
-ModeFRONTIER
Does anyone have any suggestions for computer specs or know of ones that have worked in the past?

Thanks I appreciate it

any computer will work, it just depends on how patient you are. A good rule of thumb is to get the best system you can afford and it will still be too slow

Most computers will run those without too much issue.

Spend your money on a good amount of RAM (>=4 gb), a decent video card and don't go for the top of the line processor.

Depending on how many computers you already have, you may be better off just getting cheaper components and allowing more people to work by increasing your infrastructure.

Good Luck,
Ben

Thanks guys,

Budget is pretty tight being a newer team and all so it would likely just be the one more powerful comp for full car assembly and CFD etc. I will look around and see what I can find.

Cheers,
