i would like to use a step motor as a shifter. but i don't know if the there is a practicable motor with a sufficient torque.
Do you think it's practicable to use this?

A stepper motor as a shifter? Why not just use the hour hand of a clock? People use solenoids because they're quick and strong enough to get the job done.
