How about our car? We had lots of problems with it though, on the acceleration event the rear right pushrod snapped and the car lost control hitting a cone, Was a shame as it went off the line like it was in a catapault.
Theres a few pics and vids in the FS folder of that website

Well I guess the ETS Car looked great. Lots of Carbon Fibre, and the body had nice curved shapes. Also it looked finished, Unfortunately I can't show you any pics. I think looks is what mate them ultimately win the design award. And if so it deserves it definetly.
Cheers Tom

What material and paint did you use for your bodywork herts? Its a great finish
I think the brunel car was gorgeous. All naked carbon fiber with silver lettering and excellent attention to detail.
I'd show you, but I don't know how to attach a picture that's not already on the web....
They must have had one of the worst weekends of all competitors, building such a beautiful car and then blowing two engines.
I really loved the Lulea car, I think they should have scored better in design. But I'm an electrical engineer, so I'm biased :-)

Thanks,
The entire chassis is carbon fibre and was painted by one of our sponsers for free. We would of lef it in raw carbon but there were a few untidy bits due to the moulds distorting, really glad we painted it now though.
The sidepods are also carbon fibre, and were not painted, just laquered. Each pod weighed only 400grams.

The bronze and silver car with Ferrariesque sculpted side pods was probably my fave looking car, sorry can't remember which uni.
I can't remember many other than those in our pit area (3). Hertfordshire was nice and Strathclyde had some good body work too.
But come on, you know you all loved the Newcastle car. In our case, big definately is beautiful. However, i can personally reasure you that out next car will be siginficantly smaller.
Can anyone tell me who won the Most Desirable Product Award (Honda Award??)?.

ETS won most desirable car. Our's was in the running but obviously not good enough to compete with ETS's car.

Where can I find pictures of some of these mentioned cars? I have not proven resourceful enough to find them on the web or uni web sites.
Thanks,

Of course I'm bias, but hey, the U of S car was definatly stylin with influence from early open wheel race cars and hot rods. The old school shark nose cone, green paint with gold scallops and suspension, and the oh so pimpin pinstriping were all curtosy of Dan the Bodyman. Cudos to Dan if ya ever read this, can't wait to see next years creation.
Also proved that you don't need sidepods. one clean envelope, If only the judges had let us keep the pint cans of Molsen Canadian as our catch cans, sigh...
if I had a scanner in my pocket I'd be happy to show you a pic but I'm out in the boonies on a summer Job, anyone have a pic of this car that I speak of?
Cheers!

Cheers for the kind words Igor, we spent a lot of time ensuring that the car looked finished, scruitineers didn't like the reflective stickers though! Sorry we've no pictures on the site yet, they should be up ASAP. We were proper gutted when the first engine went, then for a second to go in the same manner, well we've learnt from the mistakes and have a spot on CBR600 F3 currently doing stuff on the dyno that blew up our previous engines, so we are keen for Australia if we can get the cash together!
To be fair most cars in the design final looked quite stunning, ETS & Lulea especially in my opinion

Thanks Frank, they are a couple of cuteys aren't they. Don't know about that dopey looking character in the background though. Doesn't he know mullets went out of fashion in the 80's? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
