Forget my last post for electrical problems.

Does anyone have a spare 99-02 Yamaha R6 engine, ours broke. Timing chain tensioner blew off and all of the intake valves are folded. The engine guys are tearing it down now. We are hoping to find that a new head will suffice, but im looking for R6 engines, heads, anything at this point.

Calling all of the closed salvage yards, but thought i'd check here too. my cell number is 603.651.8813.

Thanks, and see you all in 6 days.

Pics to follow.

Well,

the guides and seats seem to be ok, but we have quite a few (10+) tweaked valves. So basically we are looking for valves. 8 intake and 8 exhaust valves. A complete head for sale would be a bonus.

p.s. a new rectifier would be great also.

if the valves got smacked like that, you probably have borked pistons and some sketchy con rods at this point

I wouldn't assume that; the valves are puny and don't take much force to bend. You can check deck height easily enough with the head off.

can't say that we have an R6 for you, but we got spare valves at http://www.ferrea.com
I didn't order them, and ours were custom valves, so I don't know the normal lead time. Looks like they have R6 valves, though.

Well,

it looks like just valves, and I found a local dealer who is overnighting them at cost. We should be rebuilding saturday afternoon.

Thanks for the help guys.

p.s. I also got a new rectifier, so I think we are all set there also.
