Does anyone know a way of transfering a Solidworks model to an ANSYS model to perform FEA?

When you save as igs in SolidWorks. Goto options and select ANSYS within the options. Also be sure you save as igs solid body and not outline only.

Doesn't Ansys embeds itself into SW? You should have an Ansys menu to export into it directly.
I saw it before before but never used it so i couldn't help you much.

I haven't used ANSYS, but it may require specific version of the .SAT ACIS file. The setting for this is available in the save dialog under the "Options..." button.
