I'm hoping some Melbourne teams might be able to help us out a little here. A group of about 6-8 of us will be staying for most of the week after the competition (we booked late flights under the hope that OptimumG would be on this year), and wouldn't mind organising some things to do. So if any of you have suggestions for sweet stuff to do, and/or want to organise something then let us know. We probably like the same stuff as you do. Bonus points for anything that involves some form of competition or alcohol. Museums, art galleries, and shopping probably won't interest us.
Cheers
Some of us (me as well) are staying in Melbourne during the week after the comp. We definitely will be exploring Melbourne's nightlife ;-) Perhaps we can join forces? A preferably VERY big group of drunk males is what the chicks are usually looking for *g*
We are staying in King Street Backpackers... hopefully. We have no confirmation for the time after the comp so far.

We haven't booked anywhere to stay yet (it's cheaper and more fun to wait until the last minute), but we'll probably be staying somewhere near the central city. I think the only problem we'll have with the nightlife, as we found last year, is that although Sunday isn't too bad, mid-week is pretty dead around Melbourne (damn regular people with their steady jobs and incomes that don't go out drinking on weeknights)
we can aid in this drinking and going out business. most of us are free the week after comp so if you guys are up for it give us a bell.

Last year while randomly walking through melbourne veugly intoxicated we ran across the adelaide guys, they seemed to know how to have a good time http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I would also recomend the casino as a good source of everything at anytime, I believe there are even clubs there and the place never closes.
And if your after a good place to stay go ckeck out Quest on Bourke serviced apartments. They are a 2 bedroom apartment that can sleep 6 in beds I think, 2 singles, one double and one large sofa bed plus if you dont mind bringing some air matresses you could sleep on the floor. Your only meant to have 5 people in them, but that didnt stop my mates last time we were road tripping http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Good luck to you all this year, pity we wont be there..

What can I say? Us Adelaidians know how to have a good time! That night was a great one!
We will be around till Tuesday the 2nd in Melbourne and will be floating around the city. Pretty hard to miss a gaggle of engineers walking the streets!
